Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The monument of the Unknown Soldier is outside the Greek Parliament facing the Syntagma Square. It was designed by sculptor Fokionas Rok and its unveiling took place on 25 March 1932 by the then Prime Minister Andrew Michalakopoulos. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a symbolic monument in memory of soldiers who died for their country. Engraved on the right and left of the monument are epigrams from "Epitaph of Pericles" of Thucydides and the locations where the Greek Army battled.
