Parthenon

The monument of Parthenon is located on the Acropolis hill. It was built in the mid of 5th century BC by architects Iktinos and Kallikratis. The Greek sculptor Phidias, who created one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, had the responsibility for the sculptural decoration. The statue of Athena, which was inside the Parthenon, was also created by Pheidias. The Parthenon is a Doric temple with perfect harmonious proportions, pentelic marble was used for its construction. It was designed with brilliant method, its construction was completed with absolute mathematical precision. Approximately ten years were needed so that the monument reached its final form in 438 BC at the Great Panathenaia. The sculptural decoration was completed in 433-432 BC.
